Cabaret (1998) | Emerson Stage | Asst. Director

Under the direction of Ilana Ransom-Toeplitz, Cabaret is the final Emerson Stage show of the 2022-23 season. The timeless and devastatingly beautiful musical put up in Emerson’s Cutler Majestic Theater brought the ever so prevalent warning of complacency and the dangers of being a bystander to our Boston community, serving as a powerful reminder to the entire company how imperative our jobs are as storytellers and performers for social change.

The Wild Party  | Emerson College | Director

Based on the poem under the same title by Joseph Moncure March, this steamy prohibition tale circles around “Queenie” and her abusive boyfriend “Burrs.” In a last ditch effort to spark up some romance in their fizzled-out relationship, they decide to throw a party that descends into madness, violence, drug abuse, and heartbreak. This production landed Anthony his second EVVY nomination for his “Outstanding Scenic Design” at Emerson’s 42rd EVVY Awards, as well as 4 other EVVY nominations for “Outstanding Choreography” (WINNER), “Outstanding Lead Performer for the Stage” (Emily Begley, “Queenie”), “Outstanding Lighting Design” (Josh O’Brien) + “Outstanding Sound Design” (Garrett Traer).

Pippin | Spotlight Kid’s Co. | Director

Taking a new perspective to Pippin’s life story, Anthony wanted to mirror Pippin’s never-ending desires and ambition to that of folks aspiring to make their big break in the theater. Reminding us that sometimes all we really need is right infront of us, and we have all the tools for our own success if we just step back and take in the world around us. Set in a 1920’s world of flappers, frenzy, and fables- this take of the beloved musical Pippin was described as “Fresh, Fun, and Exhilarating” (Madison Eagle).
